Sabering Ritual at The St. Regis New York
The St. Regis New York has long since been one of those places to be and be seen and the new addition of its nightly champagne sabering ritual makes it even desirable. Previously reserved for celebratory moments and spontaneous revelry, starting this year, St. Regis will now ceremoniously uncork a bottle of champagne each evening in Astor Court at 5:30PM to celebrate the arrival of the evening hour to be shared with patrons of the hotel. Check in and check out this ritual.
The art of sabrage has an illustrious history that stretches back more than 200 years. For St. Regis, the ritual dates to 1904 when hotel founder John Jacob Astor IV would nightly have a bottle sabered on-property to celebrate the transition from day to night. Thank heavens they’re bringing this sexy sunset tribute back.
